“To Finn Voy, magic is two things: a knife to hold under the chin of anyone who crosses her…and a disguise she shrugs on as easily as others pull on cloaks.Īs a talented faceshifter, it’s been years since Finn has seen her own face, and that’s exactly how she likes it. It was juuust exciting enough to make it past my lunch time rule, but the faults of the book continued to build beyond where I could read past them. The elements for a great book are there: a unique magic system, characters that are engaging, a Big Bad, but the execution of those elements falls very short of where it needed to be in order to succeed. Nocturna just isn’t sure what it wants to be.
